Review by Denver Patron |
| I liked Ms. Clarke's writing style, but disagree that this book necessarily appeals to Jane Austen fans (Austen is my favorite writer) because there was not one character I cared about in this novel. Like Dickens, there were too many characters. When she focused on magic, she painted a vivid picture, otherwise, it was quite pedestrian. For a female author, I'm surpsied that none of her female characters were interesting. Still, I did read the whole thing, which does say something for it. |
